What we aim for

Kaja Construction is a family-run remodeling company in Livonia, Michigan. We build and maintain this site ourselves, and we work toward the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA as our standard. We have not had the site formally audited by a third party, so we describe below what the site does today rather than claiming a certification we do not hold.

What the site does today

• Every page can be reached and operated with a keyboard alone, and the item you are on shows a visible focus outline.
• The menu, the footer and the calls to action are real links, so screen readers announce them correctly and you can open them in a new tab.
• Headings, lists and landmarks are marked up properly, so a screen reader can jump through a page by structure instead of reading it start to finish.
• Our before-and-after slider can be operated with the arrow keys as well as by dragging, and it announces how much of each photo is showing.
• If your device is set to reduce motion, the site skips its animations.
• Text sizes and colours are chosen for contrast, and pages fit a 320-pixel-wide screen without scrolling sideways — we measure this rather than assume it.
• Our main pages are readable with JavaScript switched off. The two booking pages are the exception — see below.

Known limitations, stated honestly

• Our online booking calendar is provided by Calendly, and our Design Center runs on separate software. We do not control their accessibility. If either gets in your way, call us and we will book your estimate or take your order over the phone.
• Most of our photographs are not individually described yet. More than half carry the same generic description, "Kaja Construction project", so a screen reader repeats one phrase instead of telling you what each bathroom shows. The large photo at the top of a page is either that same generic description or marked as decorative and skipped, depending on the page. We are writing proper descriptions page by page. In the meantime, call us and we will describe any bathroom on the site to you.
• The two booking pages need JavaScript. Our callback form and the page you land on after booking are built in the browser, so with JavaScript switched off they appear blank. Please phone or email us instead and we will book you directly.
• We have not tested the site with every combination of browser and screen reader in use.

Tell us the page, what you were trying to do, and the device or assistive technology you were using if you know it. We aim to reply within two business days, and we will give you the information or complete the booking another way while we work on the fix.

You do not have to use the website to work with us. Phone or email reaches a person, and we can take the whole estimate booking that way. You are also welcome to walk into the showroom.
